Webflow

At GlobalizeMe, we’re proud of our roots in deep technical delivery including cloud architecture, full stack development, DevOps, and more. So, it might come as a surprise to some that we’ve been increasingly using Webflow to build websites for our clients.

Why? Because not every project needs tens of thousands of pounds and a full development team to deliver a brilliant result. And as technologists, we believe it’s our job to stay open-minded, evaluate the tools at our disposal, and help our clients make informed choices. Especially when a solution like Webflow might be the perfect fit.

Let’s take a closer look at Webflow, what it is, what it’s good at, and where it might fit in your digital strategy.

What Is Webflow?

Webflow is a visual website builder and CMS platform that allows users to design, build, and host websites – all within a single interface, and often without writing a single line of code.

Think of it as a modern hybrid between design software and front-end development tools. It generates clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript based on what you create visually. It’s responsive by default, supports dynamic content with its CMS, and includes built-in hosting capabilities.

Sounds simple, right? But make no mistake, Webflow is not just another drag-and-drop tool. It’s surprisingly deep, and building a fully realised, robust site on Webflow still requires a strong grasp of web structure and logic. That’s where working with a technically experienced partner (like us) really adds value.

Why We’re Using Webflow (And Why You Might Too)

We’ve seen a lot of tools in the so-called “no-code” and “low-code” space. But Webflow has carved out a unique space for itself. Particularly for projects that demand high-quality design, strong performance, and rapid turnaround. Here’s why it’s caught our attention:

Visual Design, Done Right

Unlike many visual builders that oversimplify, Webflow mirrors the structure of front-end code. It respects how HTML and CSS actually work, meaning designers can achieve pixel-perfect layouts without compromising on quality. For design-led organisations, that’s a huge win.

Clean, Performance-Ready Code

Webflow produces semantic, standards-compliant code. That means faster load times, better SEO, and less technical debt. Compared to some no-code tools that churn out bloated or generic code, this is a breath of fresh air, especially for sites where performance matters, like eCommerce, landing pages or marketing campaigns.

Powerful Built-In CMS

The Webflow CMS is intuitive for non-technical users, but flexible enough for developers and designers to create rich, structured content experiences. This makes it ideal for marketing teams, content-heavy sites, or agencies managing client portfolios.

Hosting, Versioning, and Collaboration

Webflow includes hosting, version control, and team collaboration tools right out of the box. That reduces reliance on separate DevOps infrastructure, which is particularly handy for startups or smaller teams who want to move quickly without sacrificing quality.

Supportive Ecosystem

Webflow University (its learning platform) is one of the best in the business. Combined with an active community and growing library of templates and cloneable components, it’s a great environment for teams to build, learn, and iterate.

Where Webflow Fits (And Where It Doesn’t)

Webflow is excellent for marketing websites, portfolio sites, product landing pages, and content-driven platforms. It shines when the goal is to get a beautifully designed, fast, and maintainable site live without a long development cycle.

However, it’s not a perfect fit for every use case. If your project involves complex backend logic, user authentication, or multi-step workflows, Webflow may need to be paired with other tools (like Memberstack, Zapier, or custom JavaScript) or might be better served by a custom-built application. That’s where our technical team can step in to help assess the best architecture for your needs.

Final Thoughts from the Devs

We’ll admit it, we weren’t always sold on platforms like Webflow. But as technologists, our job isn’t to protect the old ways. It’s to understand the evolving toolkit and use the right tool for the job.

Webflow won’t replace custom development in complex use cases, but it does offer a compelling option for many businesses who want high-quality, high-speed website delivery without reinventing the wheel.

If you’re curious about what Webflow could mean for your next project, or you’re wondering how to balance low-code platforms with enterprise-grade tech, we’re here to help.
